Let’s talk about beauty of the chocolate protein pudding. For many, many mornings, my breakfast was the exact same bowl of Greek yogurt and granola topped with fruit. Sometimes I switched to eggs with kimchi, which I love, but after a while I got bored of that too.
Adding more protein in your diet is never a bad choice, but it can feel a bit intimidating when your ideas run out. It’s not that there aren’t options, but it’s just hard to come up with something new once you’re tired of the usual things you make. Especially when you are only half awake.
Then I started looking around for something delicious that could fit into my real schedule. It had to be ready fast, because I don’t have much time before work, and it had to be something I would actually want to eat.
That’s how this chocolate protein pudding was created. It’s takes only few basic ingredients, for a delicious and nutritious meal.

What is Protein Pudding?
Protein pudding is simply Greek yogurt mixed with protein powder and cocoa until it turns thick and silky smooth. The texture is so close to real pudding that it feels like a treat, but it gives you loads of protein to properly start your day.
Greek yogurt is already a great protein source on its own, but adding chocolate protein powder gives it an extra boost, and the dark cocoa brings a rich chocolate flavour without making it overly sweet. Together they make a healthy protein breakfast that keeps you full for hours, so you are not tempted to reach for a snack an hour later.
It’s also one of the easiest ways to start using protein powder if you’ve never been sure what to do with it beyond a shake.
How to Use Protein Powder in Your Meals
Once I made this pudding, I started looking at my protein powder in a whole new way. It doesn’t have to be used only in smoothies. A spoon of protein powder mixed into something creamy or wet blends right in, and most of the time nobody even notices it’s there. And that’s the best here.
Here is how I often use the protein powder:
- You can simply stir it into oatmeal or overnight oats for healthy breakfast
- You can add a scoop into a pancake or waffle batter. That would become a great filling meal.
- Blend it into a morning smoothie, a classic.
- Mix it into a plain yogurt with granola and fruit. Typical breakfast for me.
- Roll it into no-bake energy bites for an afternoon snack. Well, this is a delicious treat.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe
This chocolate protein pudding comes together in about two minutes with no cooking, no blender needed, and no special tools to use. You only need a small bowl and a small whisk. It needs ingredients you probably already have, and you can make exactly the amount you want, so nothing goes to waste. It’s creamy, filling, and easy to change up with whatever fruit or toppings you have. I like to spoon it into a small jar and take it to the office.
What You’ll Need for This Easy Protein Breakfast
Greek yogurt – The creamy base of the pudding is the base for this recipe. Plain yogurt works the best so you can control the sweetness. Full-fat or 2% fat gives you the thickest, creamiest texture. If yours is a bit runny, the protein powder will help thicken it up.
Chocolate protein powder – Adds extra protein and a sweet chocolate flavour. Use any brand you like, whey or plant-based both work well. Some powders are sweeter than others, so taste before you add honey.
Dark cocoa powder – It gives the pudding a rich chocolate taste and a dark pudding colour. Regular unsweetened cocoa powder works great.
Honey – Just a bit for natural sweetness that balances the bitterness of the cocoa. Maple syrup or agave work too, and you can skip it if your protein powder is already sweet.
Toppings – I like adding shredded coconut, dust of cocoa, or my favourite berries.

gramsEasy chocolate protein pudding recipe for a creamy, healthy protein breakfast you'll want every morning. Nutritious and delicious at the same time.
Ingredients
½ cup Greek yogurt
1 tablespoon chocolate protein powder
1 tablespoon dark cocoa powder
Drizzle of honey
Shredded coconut and cocoa powder, for sprinkling
Fresh berries as toppings (optional)
How to Make Chocolate Protein Pudding
- Add Greek yogurt into a small bowl or a cup.
- Add the protein powder and dark cocoa, then mix with a small whisk to reach a smooth texture.

- Drizzle some honey and mix well. Taste it and adjust the honey to your liking.

- Finish with a sprinkle of shredded coconut and dark cocoa, or top it with your favourite berries. That's it, it's ready to serve.

Notes
- Whisk the protein powder and cocoa in before you add the honey. The powder blends in much more easily that way.
- If the pudding feels too thick, add a small splash of milk and whisk again.
- Taste before you add honey. Some protein powders are already sweet, so you may need just a drizzle.
How to Serve This Chocolate Protein Pudding
This is such a delicious treat that I usually eat it on its own, straight from the bowl. You can also top it with your favourite fruits and berries, a even few banana slices, or a spoon of peanut butter.
It has easily become my favourite healthy protein breakfast option. I make it quickly in the morning, take it to the office, and it keeps me full for hours. It also makes a great afternoon snack when I need something sweet that still holds me over.
How to Store Leftovers
You shouldn’t really have any leftovers, because this recipe is so easy that you can make the exact amount you need, right when you need it. It takes about a minute, really. If you do end up with extra, cover it and keep it in the fridge for up to a day.
