Hello, and welcome to my food blog! So happy to have you here!
A little bit about me: I am Biba, but you can also call me Bibi or Biljana (my actual name). By day I am a professional accountant wrangling risks and controls, but deep down I am an artsy soul craving good food (and books). In my free time you can spot me at local parks, ideally on the beach, enjoying family time with a good book in my hand. I call Toronto, Canada my home, where I live with my husband, two kids, and our adorable Aussie doodle, Mika (who is by the way my greatest cooking fan).
Cooking has always been my passion, from perfecting family recipes to experimenting with new flavors. My cooking philosophy is simple: the best dishes start with the best ingredients. I truly believe that nothing beats the flavor and quality of fresh produce. Whenever I can, I get my ingredients locally and seasonally, ensuring nature’s true colors and flavors find their way into my kitchen.
I am particularly proud of my little herb garden. There is nothing more satisfying than stepping outside and collecting fresh herbs straight from the garden. Whether it is rosemary, basil, mint, or sage, these beautiful greens add an amazing flavor and aroma to my dishes that dried herbs just can’t match. Summer is especially delightful because my garden is in full bloom, inspiring my cooking with beautiful fresh herbs.
Creating delicious and simple recipes is more than just a hobby for me; it is a way to connect with others and share joy of good food. I hope my recipes inspire you to get creative in the kitchen and enjoy the simple pleasures of cooking with fresh ingredients.
I also like fashion and I believe we can look stylish and chic while cooking, so I named my blog “Chick in Apron”. I am literally obsessed with unique, artsy and chick aprons. Seriously, you can win me over with a cool design in no time.
As a busy mom myself, I understand the need for healthy, budget-friendly, and family-friendly recipes that are easy to make. So, I created this blog to share a collection of simple recipes for quick and delicious meals, using sustainable ingredients you likely have at home. Busy foodies, this blog is your new best friend!
Now, if you are looking for chef-level, professionally decorated gourmet dishes, this might not be the place. But don’t worry – I can guide you to great resources for that, if needed.
My goal is to turn cooking from a chore, into something fun, easy, and absolutely enjoyable. So, come and celebrate food with me, and let’s enjoy this journey together!
